MEET ROSLYN

Roslyn M. Ogburn is a proud fourth-generation Detroiter, mother of five, grandmother of two, and longtime housing and environmental advocate with more than 25 years of community organizing experience. She has dedicated her life to fighting for clean air and water, stable housing, and stronger neighborhoods. She is the co-founder of NexusDetroit, helping distribute over one million pounds of food while leading youth and wellness programming across the city. Roslyn has served as a housing organizer with Detroit Action, Precinct Delegate, Block Club President, Climate Equity Advisory Council member, and Partnership Coordinator with the Michigan League of Conservation Voters.

ISSUES

Clean air & water

Every family deserves to breathe clean air and trust the water flowing from their tap. Roslyn will fight to reduce pollution, hold corporate polluters accountable, and invest in environmental protections that safeguard Detroit’s neighborhoods. Healthy communities start with a safe environment, and Roslyn is committed to protecting our air, water, and future.

Safe, stable Housing

Housing is a basic human right, not a privilege. Having organized to stop foreclosures and keep families in their homes, Roslyn knows the urgency of protecting residents from displacement, rising costs, and unsafe living conditions. She will champion policies that expand affordable housing, strengthen tenant protections, and ensure every family has a safe place to call home.

affordable utilities

No one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. Roslyn will push for stronger oversight of utility companies, fight unjust rate hikes, and support clean energy solutions that lower costs while protecting the environment. Affordable utilities are essential to economic stability and dignity for Detroit families.

Safe communities

Safety means more than policing; it means investing in people, prevention, and opportunity. Roslyn will advocate for community-based safety strategies, youth programming, environmental health, and neighborhood resources that address root causes and build stronger, more connected communities. Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live, work, and raise their families.

WHY ROSLYN?

Roslyn is running to become the next State Representative for District 4 because the challenges facing Detroit families are personal to her. She has spent more than 25 years organizing around issues such as housing stability, environmental justice, food access, and neighborhood safety. From helping fight foreclosures in Wayne County to distributing over a million pounds of food through NexusDetroit, Roslyn has been on the frontlines doing the work when families needed support most. Her decision to run is rooted in a simple belief: District 4 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and delivers real solutions. Roslyn is committed to fighting for clean air and water, affordable utilities, safe and stable housing, and policies that protect Detroit families instead of powerful interests.
